The two white objects I chose to compare are a salt shaker and blank index card.

Although both objects would be considered white, the white is different. The salt shaker definitely appears to be darker, almost a grey color, because it is overcome by its contents on the inside (salt). The salt creates a shadow effect, hence the dark effect. The index card, on the other hand, is a much more vibrant white. The white is almost illuminating compared to the white of the salt shaker. 

After changing the lighting, the white of each object also changed. The salt shaker's colors reversed. The salt contents, that were originally dark, now were glowing and the empty space within the shaker darkened. The index card also took on a similar effect. The once vibrant white was now dull. It mimicked the brightness of its environment.
